Kano State Accountant General Resigns

The Accountant General of Kano State, Hajiya Aisha Bello, thursday resigned her appointment in a letter sent to the state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In the letter dated February 20, 2018 Bello appreciated the governor for giving her the opportunity to serve the state in two capacities – first as Commissioner for Planning and Budget and later as the state Accountant General.
The letter which was received by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government on Thursday, did not give the reasons for her resignation.

Investigation by THISDAY revealed that Bello was recently investigated by the state Public Complaint and Anti-corruption Commission for her alleged arbitrary release of funds without the governor’s approval and was given a clean bill of health.

Her resignation was believed to be as result of the over interference in her duties by some people who were close to the governor.

When THISDAY visited the Office of the Accountant General, some workers were still in shock over the development, while others expressed joy over the way the ex-accountant general ran the office.
