Insecurity:  FG Is Committed to Safety of Lives, Properties, Says Saraki

Worried by the perceived insecurity ravaging some parts of the country, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, at the weekend assured Nigerians that the federal government is committed to securing lives and property in every part of the country.

He said the legislature would continue to collaborate with the executive to ensure that Nigerians are safe wherever they live across the country.

Saraki made the assurance in Kaiama, the headquarters of Kaima Local Government Area of Kwara State where he had gone to commiserate with the  Emir of  Kaima, Alhaji Shehu Omar, over the recent attacks on the community by unknown gunmen which left scores of residents dead.

The state police command at the weekend arrested about 25 suspects in connection with the attack while 19 other suspects were also arrested for kidnapping crime activities in the state.

The state Police Commissioner, Alhaji Lawan Ado, said the suspects were arrested following the technical intelligence of the police command in the state.

He however said the suspects would soon be arraigned after the state police command completes its full investigations on them.

However, the Senate president, who was represented by the Chairman of the Advisory Council of his ABS constituency office, Ilorin, Alhaji AbdulRaheem Olesin, and the Secretary, Mr. Anthony Towoju, at the Kaima community to commiserate with the bereaved also visited families of the victims of the attack.

He made cash donations to the families of the victims as well as some vulnerable members of the community.

Saraki praised the Emir for maintaining peace in Kaiama and its environs.

He appealed to the residents to remain calm, law abiding and avoid any form of reprisal, noting that the state government has beefed up in the area.

Responding, the Emir of Kaima, Omar, thanked Saraki for his kind gesture and commitment towards the wellbeing of not only the people of state but Nigeria as a whole.

He expressed the continued support of his people for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the state and federal levels.
