Edo Mass Transit: Cashless payment, modern terminals, 75 new buses will boost revenue, improve service – ECTS boss

Managing Director, Edo City Transport Service Limited (ECTS), Mrs. Edugie Agbonlahor has said plans by the state government to build modern bus terminals in Benin City, would facilitate the development of an integrated transport system for the state’s mass transit scheme.
Agbonlahor disclosed this during an interview with journalists in Benin City, Edo State capital.
She disclosed that the adoption of cashless payment system and the incoming passenger information system will improve customer experience and boost the state’s revenue drive.
According to her, “The construction of the bus terminals will improve the transport system in the state and make it more organised. This will enable ECTS develop schedule for bus service and a Passenger Information System through which passengers can have access to information relating to arrival and departure times well ahead of their boarding the vehicles.”
“With this, the customers will be assured that at any given time, there is a bus available and the waiting time for buses, will be greatly reduced,” she added.
Agbonlahor said that ECTS is committed to efficient service delivery as Governor Godwin Obaseki has positioned the transport company to achieve specific objectives, noting “Through Governor Obaseki’s timely intervention, 75 new buses were added to the fleet of buses for ECTS. This has enabled the company to carry out its services with a new lease of life.”
According to her, “The intervention of the governor was to enable ECTS become a pacesetter as an efficient, reliable public transport system in Edo State. ECTS is conceived to set the pace for other transporters in intracity service. We will continue to make effort as we hope to offer reliable, affordable, available and comfortable services to the public.
“Other intervention effort of Godwin Obaseki to reposition ECTS, is the refurbishment of  70 old Daewoo buses which will be added to the 75 new buses in six months’ time.”
She said, “The adoption of cashless policy in the operation of ECTS, which has been fully embraced by the people is encouraging. It has aided the company to reduce pilferage and improve the revenue collection system. It has also reduced strife and contention between the officials of the company and  customers.”
