UNN, Sweden Partner on Innovation, Development

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, said it has secured a partnership with Ideon Science Park and Lundavision, both of Sweden, that turn the institution into a formidable science and innovation hub in Nigeria
This was made known in a statement by the Director of International Collaboration, UNN, Prof. Kenneth Ofokansi.

 Prof. Ofokansi noted that the collaborations by the University were already bringing about new approach to ICT, industrial transformation, energy, agricultural revolution that highlights tractorisation and social entrepreneurship and innovation.
He explained: “The First University-based incubator-hub (Roar Nigeria), Lion Laptop Assembly line and Juawei authorized information Network Academy are the innovations already gaining moment in the University.’’
According to the Prof, the University would host an international workshop themed “Science Park and Innovation for National Development” PSEN4ND, as part of the efforts to kick-start the partnership.

He explained that the workshop scheduled for February 20 and 23, 2018 would deliberate and showcase the initiative, identifying and establishing pathways for domesticating the precepts and principles drawn from the Swedish experience.
“It will also help in building momentum towards Nigeria’s achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG1-17), building local capacity and skill sets for Nigeria’s economic transformation. It will also be drawing from the expertise and vast experience of foreign partners to benefit participants, particularly globally acclaimed researchers, academics, investors, venture capitalists and innovative start-up companies such as Dr. Sven-Thore Holm, Prof. Erikson, Mr. Jonas Michanek, Dr. Andreas Gothenberg, Mr. RoberT Keller, and Ms Anna Malkan.”
The university stressed that Nigeria’s future was brighter with the new partnership.
