MIDNIGHT CITY Takes Lagos By Storm

In November last year, Midnight City Lagos, Nigeria’s first online, night food delivery platform, was quietly launched in Lagos. Three months later, it has picked up and gathered so much steam, that it has become the go-to website (www.midnightcity.com) for many people who live on Lagos Island, particularly in Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island, Oniru, Banana Island and Ikate Elegushi axis. They are open to take orders from 9pm to 5am Nigerian time.
Midnight City Lagos is the brainchild of a young man, TOBENNA OZIM, a 22-year-old graduate of Computer Science from the University Of Essex, in the United Kingdom.
According to Tobenna, Midnight City Lagos, provides 39 different meals ranging from Shawarmas to small chops and local Nigerian dishes like Ofada rice and sauce. “We also do burgers, and sandwiches, and a variety of other meals. We recently started selling deserts and bottled cocktails,” he adds.
We gathered that even though most of his patrons are the young upwardly mobile people, more and more adults are getting to make their orders too. Dan Akpovwa, Chairman of Abuja Inquirer as well as popular actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), and ace Comedian AY Makun have all ordered food from Midnight City Lagos. Other regular celebrity patrons are Runtown, Burma Boy and Don Jazzy.
Dan Akpovwa said, “I am very intrigued by the whole experience. I was in Lagos and was staying at a leading Hotel on Lagos Island. It was past midnight, I was hungry and the hotel Room Service had closed. Then the I remembered RMD had told me about Midnight City Lagos. I ordered for their signature Club sandwiches and shawarma. My order arrived in 30 minutes, hot and fresh. This delivery guy was very polite too. The cost of the food was so affordable, I gave more tip than what I paid for the food.”
Tobenna said, “Our aim is to supply the demand of food at hours you would prefer it conveniently delivered to your door step. What really sets Midnight City apart from others is the fact that you can stay in the comfort of your home at night and have food delivered to you”.
