Harry Itie: I’m A Huge Fan of Kemi Adetiba

MY STORY

Harry Itie is a TV presenter and producer with TVC Entertainment. He is currently one of the hosts of the popular weekly show, Entertainment Splash and was nominated in the 2017 the Future Awards. He also runs a Podcast, The Harry Minute. In this chat with Tosin Clegg, he talks about, his career

How did you start out?

Harry Itie is a mass communication graduate from Covenant University. I started out blogging in 2007 when I was still in the university and I got my first major TV job with TVC in 2012.

Becoming a renowned TV presenter, how has the journey been and what have been the challenges?

It has been an exciting journey. I have learnt a lot about myself, and I have evolved since I started out. The major challenge I think with being on TV is that after a while, people begin to expect a lot from you. That is something I have to always wrestle with. However, it has been a great journey, and I am optimistic of what the future holds.

Tell us about your Podcast and your YouTube channel?

The Harry Minute is a weekly podcast that is all about pop culture commentary. I like to discuss our pop culture intersects with everyday life, and it’s great to have an outlet to share my opinion. As for my YouTube channel, I am still growing it. The plan is to be able to document my life and the experiences that I have as a way to enjoy the journey.

Who are your role models and mentors?

In Nigeria, I am daily inspired by Kemi Adetiba. I was a huge fan of Sundays at the Seaside and I listened religiously for the longest time. I love how her career has evolved and how she has maintained her excellence. I also love IK, Arit Okpo and Lydia Idakula Sobogun. On the foreign scene, Ryan Seacrest is my biggest inspiration. From just a presenter he has become this media entrepreneur. I am also inspired by Oprah, Jason Kennedy and Jimmy Kimmel.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I want to have evolved from just a presenter and TV producer to running my production company. I want to be able to create content not just for TV but also for the big screen. Most importantly, I want to have advocacy platforms that I can use to preach the message of equality for all, and social justice.
