Florence Ita-Giwa’s Humaneness

It was John Hagee, founder and Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church, who said, “Man’s greatness is not the number of servants he has, but the number of people he serves.’’

To say that Florence Ita- Giwa has dedicated her life to the service of humanity is like stating the obvious. The former member of the Senate has proved to the world that no joy is equal to that of serving others. Her service to her immediate environment is almost unequalled.
She is widely acknowledged to have positively impacted her society. As a philanthropist, she is well loved by people and is well admired by the womenfolk, generally.

When she started years back, many of her traducers sneered at her, saying it was all for political gains. But years after she left office as a government official, she has not looked back, as many children as well as widows from her town, Bakassi in Cross Rivers State, have benefited in no small measure from her benevolence.
Spyglass gathered that she expends millions of naira every year for the education of the less-privileged she brought out of Bakassi, many of whom school abroad.

Interestingly, as she turns 72 on Monday, the dominant thought on her mind is how to give back to humanity with her “War Against Human Trafficking and Sex Slavery.” It was also gathered that, in celebration of her birthday, friends would host her to a dinner in Beirut, Lebanon.
