A former House of Assembly and Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State and son of the former Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, is declaring for the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.

THISDAY reliably gathered that the event would hold at the ward level at Mosley Road, Ikoyi.

Ibrahim popularly referred to as IBO enjoys popular support and goodwill of the Eti-Osa people because of his humility, decency and large heartedness.

The young Obanikoro, many believed had always won elections in the past but was denied victory on both occasions even though a Tribunal set up by the Lagos State Government once declared him winner after proving his case but was however upturned at the Appeal Court.

The defection of Ibrahim seem to be a death knell on the activities of the opposition PDP in the local government just in the manner the defection of his father, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, ended any chance of survival of the PDP in the state .

Leaders of the APC in the local council area who preferred anonymity described his declaration as home coming noting that his massive followers which cuts across all ethnic groups and their structures are now to be collapsed into the ruling party.

“I can confirm to you that Ibrahim is officially joining us on Friday. We are not surprised because his father who is our leader had done so few months ago. It is a home coming for him and we are now safer knowing that all his followers and their structures would be ours making the APC more formidable in future elections. Our gain is PDP’s loss.”
