History will today be made in Plateau State as Plateau United Football Club will for the first time, host a prestigious CAF Champions League game.

The ‘Lalong Boys’, as they are fondly called, will be playing Cameroonian champions, Eding Sport Football Club, at the New Jos Stadium along Zaria Road in Jos.

Plateau United FC was last year crowned champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for the first time in the club’s history and during Governor Simon Lalong’s administration.

Playing in the CAF Champions’ League is a new terrain for the Coach, Kennedy Boboye and his boys.

Though Plateau United may not have had Continental experience like Enyimba of Aba and Kano Pillars FC, expectations from the team is high.

Media Officer of Plateau United, Mr. Albert Dakop said the team was in high spirit to engage the visiting team and expressed optimism that the match will go in favour of his boys.

Dakop said, “We are expecting a convincing victory tomorrow (Sunday). Our two players that took part in CHAN in Morocco, Paul Itodo and Peter Eneji are back in the team, while we have just two injured players Tim Osanga and Benjamin who have been ruled out of the match.”

The new stadium, which will be playing host to an International match for the first time since it was constructed, is expected to be filled to capacity.
