In the face of the pockets of insecurity in the nation, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its vow to protect Nigerians, its territorial integrity, critical assets and infrastructure.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, gave the assurance during the inauguration of the renovated Paul Dike Hall, at 055 Nigerian Air Force Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Abubakar, who was represented at the occasion by the Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ekeh, also warned criminals to stay off critical assets and installations across the country.

He said, “Our presence has brought hope and relief to the despaired and a source of worry to the criminally minded. Let me use this medium to remind you of the nation’s expectation at this time of heightened security challenges across the country.

“Much is expected of us as an institution and as individuals in ensuring the protection of citizenry and other critical assets of the Nigerian state”, he said.

He further urged all officers and men to continue to discharge their constitutional responsibilities, remain steadfast and be committed to military professionalism.

On the renovated hall, Abubakar said it was part of NAF’s efforts to improve the wellbeing of personnel and to meet the demands of national security.

“The NAF has always been and will remain in the forefront of providing excellent service delivery to its personnel. The renovated hall is definitely conducive for the unit’s training day lectures, monthly durbars, medical sensitisation programmes and other family enlightenment programmes,” he said.

Abubakar commended the efforts and sacrifices of the team who took part in the renovation exercise.

Earlier, the Commander, 055 NAF Camp, Air Commodore Kabiru Aliyu, thanked everyone that participated in the achievement of the renovated hall. He added that the idea was conceived in concert with Chief of Air Staff’s visionary ideology of adding value to facilities in NAF’s units.
