Korean Centre Donates Taekwondo Equipment to FCT UPEB

The Korean Cultural Centre on Tuesday made a donation of sets of taekwondo equipment to the FCT UPEB for distribution to four elementary and junior secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Director of Korean Cultural Centre, Han Sungrae, made the equipment presentation to the Director FCT UPEB, Dr Adamu Jatau Noma, represented by Hassan Sule.

The receiving schools where taekwondo is taught in Abuja include; Model Primary School, Maitama, LEA Primary School, Wuse 1, Model Junior Secondary School, Maitama and LEA Primary School, Wuse Zone 3.

The taekwondo equipment include kicking pads, mitts, uniforms, thermometer and First Aid boxes are meant for use in the schools where the sport is taught.

Han said the centre has continued to support the project by also providing instructors for better learning.

He said the collaboration will strengthen the bilateral relations between Nigeria and South Korea in addition to a wonderful opportunity to hatch young athletes with physical and mental fitness as well as groom future educated champions, who will win laurels in both national and international tournaments, including the Olympics.

The donation was sequel to partnership document the Korean Centre signed with FCT UPEB on taekwondo development last year.

“Taekwondo is Korean martial art that helps in the development of both development of both physical and mental fitness of practitioners. It makes them more disciplined and helps them develop their leadership ability,” Han said.

Noma described the partnership with the centre as robust, that covers areas of sport and education of students, allowing the students to develop their mental capacity.
