Wakanow Founder, Ekezie, Wins DOAMF Charity Golf Tourney

Obinna Ekezie was crowned Champion at the 2018 Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation Charity Golf Tournament, which held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos.

Playing off an adjusted handicap of 19, Ekezie, returned a 56 nett score to beat the rest of the field on a day of scintillating golfing experience. Oladotun Isiaka finished three strokes behind him to pick the runner-up spot. George Uketui, who also finished three strokes behind, was the second runner-up on count-back.

With his win, the Wakanow chief executive carted away not only the much coveted winner’s trophy but also, an Air France/KLM Economy Class Return Ticket to London or Paris or Amsterdam (courtesy, friends of DOAMF), a Mifi Router with six months of paid data (courtesy of 9Mobile) and one roll of Ankara Fabric (courtesy of AirFrance/KLM).

In his speech, Ekezie cheerfully stated that “It is a great honour to win the event, being one of the most coveted titles at the Club, I am definitely enthralled to have achieved this. I doff my hat to the team at DOAM Foundation for the quality of organization and impact they are making in changing lives of the less privileged with donations from this event.”

In the ladies’ category, Peggy Onwu emerged the overall winner with a 58 nett score to beat Lynda Obieze, the runner–up, by three strokes. Kike Familoni finished as the second runner-up. Peggy Onwu, in addition to the ladies’ champion trophy, was rewarded with a VCP Hotel Pent House Classic King Room including breakfast for two plus one roll of Ankara Fabric (courtesy of AirFrance/KLM).

Other winners at the tournament were, Tim Ayomike who shot 65 to pick the best gross prize, beating Ede Osemwengie and C. E. O. Ekeocha who finished in second and third places respectively. Yusuf N’Jie scored 55 nett to win the veteran category and to beat F. Ogboru, who was the runner-up in that category.

Valet Fatoumata and Angela Adeboyega were the ladies’ best gross players at the event, with a 78 gross score, and Fatoumata taking the top position on count back.

M. Giovanni and Lanre Kalejaiye won the prizes for the nearest-to-the-pin and the longest drive respectively in the men’s category. Ronke Iyiola and Ifeoma Obata won nearest-to-the-pin and the longest drive respectively in the ladies’s category. All winners went home with an array of prizes in addition to the glittering trophies.
