Reinvention, Key to Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Experts Say

Experts have suggested business reinvention as the key to sustainable entrepreneurship in the country. The experts proffered this solution at the presentation of a book, titled: ‘On your Marks: A business Start-up Handbook in Lagos’, during the week.

Worried by the high rate of business collapse in the country, the special guest of honour, Director-General and Founder of the Institute for National Transformation (INT), Prof. Vincent Anigbogu, maintained that both spiritual and political leaders have roles to play in lifting the economy and indeed the country from a decayed state.

In his address titled: ‘Soul Winning & Nation Building: The Nexus’, Anigbogu stated that soul winning was an essential ingredients of nation building that will translate into economic benefits and more.

Quoting United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), the author of the book who also seized the occasion to mark his 50th birthday, Noruwa Edokpolo, revealed that only 20 per cent of business survive in Nigeria, with a mortality rate of 80 per cent, adding that this is so because investors failed to reinvent.

Narrating his experience, Edokpolo who said he was into consultancy but realised such was no longer forthcoming, veered into ISSO standardisation which is presently trending in the country.

He said the tough business terrain in the country inspired the new book which is a combination of his experience and his life as a business man.

“The book is an entrepreneur bible that contains valuable information and guide needed to start and run a business. I will also urge government to set friendly policies and take right steps that would catalyse entrepreneurship, as such is the only way that the country can be sure of its deliverance. Nigeria’s breakthrough is realisable in small businesses that employ 2 to 3 five people.

“This is why I’ve come up with this 10-chapter book which comes handy to guide entrepreneurs”, he said.

In his review, Group Managing Director, Republican Group, Tunji Adeyinka classified the book as unputdownable that is worth digesting by aspiring, budding and established entrepreneurs. He stated that the book mirrors the A to Z of business that would guide entrepreneurs in asking the right questions, take the right steps and build a sustainable business.

He also urged investors not to pursue money as their priority but strive towards succession and sustainability.
