Newaves Hosts 9th Niger Delta Achievers Merit Awards May 

The management of Newaves Innovations yesterday disclosed that the call for nominations for the 9th Niger Delta Achievers Merit Awards which started in December 2017 has ended.

The event is scheduled to hold on 23rd May 2018 at Sheraton Hotels, Abuja.

The statement made available by the Chief Press Secretary of Newaves Innovations, Mr Joshua Uwabor, noted that the call for nominations flagged off in December 2017 was to avail the general public the opportunity to nominate individuals, private organizations, corporations, multinationals and government institutions, that have shown exemplary and noteworthy commitment to improving the Niger Delta economy by adding value and improving service delivery across all sectors of the region for the 9th Niger Delta Achievers Merit Awards. 

The event which is scheduled to hold on May 23, 2018 at Sheraton Hotels, Abuja, he further stated that the theme for the 9th edition of the awards which is “Promoting Enterprise, Development and Regional Economic Growth:  A Private Sector Aproach” was carefully selected to reflect the need for enhanced private sector participation in promoting the region’s economy. 

Acording to Uwabor, nominations received for the 9th edition of the award cuts across agriculture, banking, construction, education, energy, environment and waste, healthcare, ICT- information and communication technology, manufacturing, media, oil and gas, public sector entity, telecommunications, tourism, transportation and youth capacity building/empowerment. 

Also speaking, the secretary of the award screening committee Barrister Voke Adjarho noted that the screening process had begun in earnest and all nominations will be reviewed by the award screening committee to select nominations that meets the eligibility criteria. 

He said that the screening committee after proper assessment of the public nominations received, will recommend a comprehensive list of successful nominations to the award committee which is made up of professionals from NGOs, CSOs, community groups and an independent fact finding organization for approval as final recipients of the award. “Successful nominees will be notified in writing on their nomination into the 9th edition of the awards” 

Voke stated that recipients of the awards ceremony will be  provided with the unique opportunity to benchmark themselves with top performers globally. “

The recipients will be acknowledged for their achievements and recognized as the elite of their industry earning a place amongst a distinguished group by having their products, projects, initiatives, contributions and achievements recognized on a prominent and far-reaching scale.

“The award program provides the ultimate platform for building knowledge, increasing brand awareness, equity, loyalty and retention through increased exposure, recognition and prestige which establishes a valuable resource that can be used extensively to create opportunities for publicity, positive organizational profiling and heightened brand awareness within the respective industries both nationally and internationally.”

He further added that the awards which is the biggest recognition platform in the region has in the past 8 years has successfully showcased the rich business potential of the region to investors locally and internationally.
