Saheed Saheed is the CEO of Sah-Squared, an entertainment and events company, with a mission to rebrand Mushin. In this chat with Tosin Clegg, he talks about his dream, challenges and role models

Why Mushin?

I was brought up in Mushin and still live there. I’m the eldest in a family of four, and I’m a computer science graduate.

Tell us about Sah-Squared and how the name evolved .

Sah-squared had been my dream right from my secondary school days. I was fascinated when I attended events and I see how the entertainment segments were being coordinated, like an event planner finding it difficult to coordinate the entertainment segment of that occasion. For example, the event planner may have difficulty finding the right emcee for an event; deejay, sounds, life-bands, video coverage, photography, exclusive red-carpet interviews for events and all other side attractions to entertain the guests.

How long have you been in the entertainment business and how did it begin?

I started, officially, about a year ago and it was a little bit difficult with lots of disappointment from people at first. But it changed after our first entertainment planning event, which was a wedding and, I tell you, it was awesome, even when we had some mistakes, which we took as a learning point. Regardless, trying to convince our first client that we could do this was actually not an easy task. Our next event was a rap contest in the heart of Mushin, where I grew up, and the winner went home with cash. We also empowered some youth with JAMB forms.

What challenges?

Beginners face a lot of challenges, and ours was not an exception. Marketing our service was our major challenge, and another was how to differentiate our role as entertainment planner from that of an event planner; because most times people tend to combine event planning and entertainment planning.

Who are your role models?

I have role models in various fields that I always look up to. Ayo Animashaun has always been an inspiration for me in the industry and I love Ben Murray Bruce too.
