The jury of 2017 In-Short International Film Festival, comprising, Isabella Akinseye, Ivan Gustanov, Yemi Oladeinde, Bose Oshin and Shaibu Husseini are thrilled to share in the joy of the event that celebrated the best of short films in Africa and around the world.
As jurors, they were entrusted with the task of determining the films and film-makers that best deserve the In-Short Film Festival awards. With 3,308 submissions from all around the world, comprising 2,379 Short Films, 488 Documentaries and 441 Animations, this was the highest season of submissions with the Festival becoming an accomplished global platform for short films.
Impressed by the strength of the short, documentary and animation categories, the jury decided this year to give three special jury prizes as against one. The first jury prize is for the short film category and was awarded to the directors of the anthology of three short films – Visions who operate under the name Surereal 16. The award was given in recognition of their effort in creating a new kind of unconventional cinema.
The second jury prize for the evening was awarded to the Iranian-born animator, Saeed Amin Javaheri for his courage and for being so prolific in the production of a difficult film type like animation. Saeed entered more than 25 animations in this year’s edition.
The last jury prize for the evening was awarded to the documentary film The Unstoppable by Expand Vision. The festival ended on a notable plate, after a couple of days of intrigues, actions and messages from all who participated in it.
