The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, thursday announced the dissolution of the state executive council with immediate effect.

The dissolution according to THISDAY checks might not be unconnected with the last government council elections in the state where many of the members of the state executive council lost their polling units to the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Since then, stakeholders in the ruling APC in the state have been calling for the heads of the former members of the state executive council and called for new ones that would be determined to ensure the electoral victory of the party in the future elections in the state.

A Government House statement issued in Ilorin by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold, said: “Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed directed the commissioners to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their various ministrie with immediate effect.”

The statement assured the citizens that additional measures have been put in place to sustain government business pending the reconstitution of the state executive council

Gold added that Ahmed thanked the former executive council members, special advisers and assistants for their valuable service and contributions and wished them the best of luck in their future engagements.
