Leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South Senatorial District of Kwara state, yesterday, re-affirmed their support of the return of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim to the senate for second term.
Speaking at a press conference in Ajase-Ipo in Irepodun Local Government Council, the senatorial chairman of APC, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun said that the support for Senator Ibrahim, the incumbent senator representing the senatorial, to seek another term, come 2019, was based on his performance since he was elected into the upper house.
Alhaji Balogun, who was flanked by the chairmen of APC in the senatorial district also came down hard on the proponents of recall process of Senator Ibrahim from the National Assembly, acting under the aegis of Kwara South Youth Forum, describing them as “faceless group”.
He said that, “Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, both in public and private life have been adorned with accolades as expected of a true democrat and representative of the people of Kwara South Senatorial District.
“He (Senator Ibrahim) has developed the art of inclusive participation that every community and individual of Kwara South origin is tuned towards progressive development. His openness and accessibility are affirmed by everyone.
“Apart from this, Senator Ibrahim has been consulting with the APC leaders in the senatorial from time to time, as a loyal member of the APC, and has committed to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the senatorial.”
Balogun added, “We, the leaders of the senatorial that cut across the seven local government councils that make up the senatorial, viz Offa, Ireodun, Ifelodun, Oke-Ero, Ekiti, Oyun and Isin are today (Friday) in support of his return to the senate for a second term because of the superlative performances of Senator Ibrahim and we believe that our political leader and Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki would make a final approval of his endorsement.”
Balogun, therefore, described those seeking for the recall of the lawmaker from the senate as fraudulent elements, saying that “the proponents of the recall are merely dancing to the gallery and acting the script of their paymasters and would not see the light of the day.”
