Bestman Games, one of Nigeria’s top family entertainment brand and the African distributor of customised editions of Hasbro’s iconic Monopoly Board Game, has unveiled its first proprietary board game, The Bible Game. According to a press release from the company, the “Bible Game exudes the same high-quality aesthetics and fun game play that will ensure that it too is well received by generations of families.”
During the launch of the game in Lagos, Founder and CEO of Bestman Games, and one of Nigeria’s best-known entrepreneurs, Nimi Akinkugbe, talked about her company’s creative and entrepreneurial journey, and the bold steps the company undertook in producing its first proprietary board game.
“Bestman Games first came into our collective pop-culture consciousness, with the first African city version of Hasbro’s world famous Monopoly board game five years ago, but now the time had come to showcase what was possible from a wholly Nigerian perspective,” she said.
She explained that the board game had been entirely manufactured in Nigeria. “The token pieces themselves are a highlight, as each piece is created using a unique and cutting-edge 3D Printing technology.”
During his welcome address at the launch, Chairman of Bestman Games, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, spoke about society’s need to rebuild strong values and the value of games in providing quality time as well as unmatched fun and excitement.
Oluseye Soyode-Johnson, a gaming and entertainment consultant took the narrative further, drawing a parallel between the current global evolution of the family entertainment industry, and Nigeria’s gaming opportunities. He also gave insights into technologies transforming the nature of ‘play’, such as robotics, artificial intelligence and augmented reality. The launch event was rough fed up with a walk-through of the board game’s gameplay; a humorous role-play by three actors, displayed the game-dynamics, as well as, the interesting character of the mischievous Challenger, who players must be prepared to face and be quizzed on the bible; they must know the bible in order to save souls.
