Festac Wins Mikano-Sponsored All Stars Football Tourney

Festac fairly large All Stars on Sunday at the National Institute of Sports Training Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, defeated Maracana All Stars, Ajegunle by 2-1 in finals of the 2017 All Stars Football Tournament.
The tournament, which was in its second edition started with over 30 teams, pulled a fairly large crowd and a number of former Nigerian internationals such as Henry Nwosu among many others.

In a chat with THISDAY after the tournament, Nwosu, who was one of the organisers said the idea of former internationals coming together was to bond and help one another.
“The idea of All Stars is to bring together old players, administrators and fans that have not seen themselves in a long while together and see how they can be of help to one another,” Nwosu said.

The 1980 Africa Cup of Nations gold medallist hailed Mikano for sponsoring this year’s edition of the tournament, while also thanking the Director General of NIS for his support.
Nwosu however promised a bigger edition of the tourney next year.
In the third place match played earlier, Paco All Stars defeated Laspotec All Stars 5-4 via penalty shootouts after playing out a goalless draw at full time.
