NTDC Boss, Folly Coker, Unperturbed

The Director-General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, NTDC, Folorunsho Folarin-Coker, is not new to politics and political scheming.

Since his appointment, Coker, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, has initiated a lot of programmes that have further made the agency more attractive to the stakeholders.

But it was surprising that some staff of the NTDC, a few weeks ago, staged a protest to complain about his style of leadership. It was carried out when he was away on assignment.

Contrary to expectation, the Lagos State-born politician and astute administrator is said to be unruffled over what a source described as “an attempt to embarrass him.”

The source further disclosed that it is the usual trick of the staff of the agency whenever they wanted to get at their boss. The same trick, it was learnt, had been employed during the administrations of former NTDC bosses such as Otunba Segun Runsewe, Mrs Omotayo Omotosho and Sally Mbanefo.

“Coker is said to have particularly adopted a system that puts all processes under thorough checks, while he works on a model to plug all loopholes. The workers were said to have found the strategy to kick out bad habits in the system suffocating, so they decided to kick back with their usual antics,’’  Our source said
