Lagos, NGO Charge Retirees on Humanitarian Service

The Lagos State Government has advised retirees in the state to see retirement as an opportunity to serve the community and give back to the society that has made them.

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adegbule gave the   advice at a Christmas carol and send-forth service  put together for  2016/2017 retirees   by the Lagos State Education District IV. 

Represented by the Director, Education Resource Centre, Mrs. Kehinde Hazoume, the Deputy Governor  while admonishing retirees from the district urged them to make good use of their experience as the reward for hard work is more work.

“I join others to celebrate your diligence, commitment and dedication to service, but be reminded that this is a time you need to re dedicate yourselves to God and service to humanity. You have contributed in no small measures to the programmes and policy designed to realise the vision of functional and quality education in the state.  

“I want you to know that this is the beginning of a new phase in your life, you may have retired but you should not  be tired to continue to impact lives positively”. 

She further urged teachers  to continue to cooperate with the government in the implementation of education programmes and policies in the state. 

In her address, the Tutor General/, Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Mrs. Lola Are Adegbite, congratulated the retirees and urged them to take good advantage of their new phase of life.

She also congratulated all district staff to include teachers, principals, non-teaching staff and students on a well spent year, calling for an improved input  in the coming year.

Also present at the gathering, Founder, Live Abundantly Empowerment Initiative, Dr. Ama Onyerinma, commended the status of education in the state, adding that there was room for improvement. She  harped on the importance of  education for all children as mandated by the United Nations as  such was  the ticket to fulfilling their dreams and having a productive life.
