HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR TALENTS

What you love doing is a clue to the gifts and talents you possess:
We all possess certain unique gifts and talents. There are different clues for us to know what particular gifting and talents that we have; one major clue is to pay attention to things that you love doing. What subjects get you excited the most? What activities do you enjoy doing?

What would you love to do if money was no longer a factor in it? Let’s say for example, if everyone on earth was to be paid an hundred thousand naira for any job done, regardless of the type of job, what would you do? If you choose to be a cleaner or a medical doctor, you will be paid same amount. The job you choose independent of the amount that you will be paid will show you the talents you have.

So find what you truly and continuously love, then build your daily routine around it.

What you hate is a clue to something you are assigned to correct:
What are you compassionate about? What grieves you? What is it that you hate to see happening to others? This is a clue to the assignment you are created to correct; in it lays your talent.

Have you ever felt disturb hearing about people experiencing financial bankruptcy and debt? Do you show concern when you see homeless children? They are clues to where your God given talents were supposed to be used the most. Pay attention to it.

There are many things wrong in this country. But they will never be changed until someone is angry enough about it to step forward and take charge.

Pay attention to what you spend money on:
Your core values are closely linked with what you spend your money and time on. Take note of what you spend your money on and look closer at what this can tell you about yourself.
For example, if you spend money on books, seminars and conferences. The types of books you buy show me what you are passionate about.

Ask others to tell you what gifts they think you have:
Sometimes, an outside perspective can make things clearer than you know. Talk to people who know you well: friends, family member, even a mentor. Ask them questions like:

• What do they think you are good at?
• What have you succeeded at doing previously?
• What they love most about your personality?
• What personal characteristics would describe you best?

People around you usually know what talents you have, even when you don’t. If you think about it, people have likely been telling you that you are good at something for a long time. You just weren’t listening.

Determine what is easy:
Are there things that you find really easy or obvious to do, while others may struggle their way through? Note down any activities or hobbies which you have enjoyed doing in the past. What did you like doing?

To know some of the task that comes easy to you, you must ask yourself the following questions:

• What types of activities do you with easy?
• What tasks do you enjoy doing?
• What kind of jobs when you see someone else doing it you wish you were the one doing it?

Get a mentor:
This is one of the major ways to identify your talents, By all means get a mentor; find someone with more experience than you in the field. A mentor is someone who is currently in the trade/profession you are entering. They know the trends, important changes and new practices that you should know to stay at the top of your career.
More importantly; knowing what you need and want from a mentor is crucial. Do you need support? Do you need someone to challenge you?

Identifying your talent may be tough, but is worth it. You will finally be a winner when your talent becomes profitable.
