Peninscope Organises Public Lecture on Investment Options in Insurance, Pension Funds

Issues bothering on government policies on various investment options of Pension and Insurance Funds in Nigeria will form the thrust of public lecture to be organised by Peninscope Professional Warranty Ltd.

Peninscope, publisher of pensionscope, has the objective of developing pension and insurance financial sub-sector as well as capacity building by promoting free flow of information and generating issues of interest among the very expansive readers, listeners and viewers, with training and specialised consultancy services.

The firm, said it will use this year’s edition of the programme, the sixth in the series, to look at various government policies as they relate to investment of pension and insurance funds. It will also examine various investment options, as well as the effectiveness of regulatory bodies – NAICOM, PenCom, CBN, SEC, in the performance of their statutory roles.

A statement by Peninscope Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Peter Adediji, said that the event will hold on Thursday 7th Dec, 2017, by 10:00am Prompt at Golden Tulip Essential Airport Hotel, 42/44 Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road Lagos.

He said the theme for the event is: Government Policy as it Affects Various Investment Options of Pension and Insurance Funds in Nigeria.
He added that topics to be considered include: Best Practices in the Management of Insurance and Pension Funds. The Impact of Government Policies on Investment of Pension and Insurance Fund in Nigeria: Then and Now and The Effectiveness of Regulatory Bodies in the performance of their Statutory Roles.

According to Adedeji, participants are drawn from pension and insurance industries, public sector, estate managers, legal and accounting firms, stock broking and other investment institutions, adding that Media personnel are also to be in attendance.

Adedeji said organisation of the public lecture by Peninscope was necessitated by the fact that “Pension and Insurance have been the two industries closely related because they are guided by the same principle: security and investment; unfortunately they have been badly hit by missiles emanating from misinformation, corruption and mismanagement.

According to him, all these thrive because people have not been properly informed and educated.
He said the lecture, will witness awards to individuals, organisations that have contributed to the development of the two sectors.
