The ripples trailing the decision of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continued yesterday in his Adamawa State with the political organisation of former military administrator of Lagos State, Gen Buba Marwa (rtd), declaring support for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Whereas eight commissioners in the Governor Jibrilla Bindow-led APC government dumped the party, in support of Atiku, the Marwa Organisation (TMO), in collaboration with some Adamawa State based NGOs and civil society groups numbering 21, listed reasons why President Buhari’s efforts so far must be commended.

In the communiqué personally signed by Marwa, a copy of which was made available to THISDAY, the pro-Buhari group said: “The organisation is impressed with the way Buhari’s government has successfully contained the activities of Boko Haram with the attendant improvement in security situation in Nigeria and the North-east in particular.”

The group also noted with satisfaction the “tremendous success” achieved by the leadership in the fight against corruption, which it says has been contained to a large extent.

“We,  the Marwa Organisation are happy with the measures the government is taking in the diversification of the economy which has already started paying off,  especially in the agriculture and mining sectors. The improvement in the economy is manifested in the recent exit from recession.

“We are appreciative of the award of the $5trillion 3, 050 mega watts Mambila Hydro-electric Power which had been on the drawing board for the past forty-five years, by the Buhari administration, as well as the general improvement of power supply,” the group stated.

The body also commended the Buhari government’s efforts in infrastructural development, especially the awards of Gombe-Numan-Hong-Mubi-Madagali, Mayo-Beliwai-Juda-Ganye as well as Numan-Jalingo roads.
The government also got kudos for extending helping hands to the Nigerian youth through provisions of credit facilities and employment through social investment schemes such as N-power.

TMO said: “In the bid to improve welfare of workers and ensure that they earn a living wage, the Buhari administration just inaugurated the National Minimum Wage Committee,” adding that “the Buhari government successfully blocked leakages and wastages through the effective implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA). “

Some of the groups included as part of the communique were; the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Gamzaki Traders Association (GTA), Rana Tafito Traders Union (RTTU), Adamawa State Hunters Association (ASHA), Association of Physically Challenged Persons (APCP), Buhari Youth Organisation, Retired Police Union, Nigerian Legion and others.
