The Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) has flagged off the distribution of N2.4 billion health equipment and medicine donated by the European Union/United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to 20 local government areas in the state.
Speaking while flagging off the distribution at BSADP Store, Dass Road, the Executive Chairman of PHCDA Bauchi, Mr. Adamu Gamawa, said the commodities will be distributed to 110 health facilities across the state.
He said: “We will distribute the commodities to 10 wards in Bauchi and Katagum Local Governments while five wards will get the commodities in other local governments.”
According to him, “We are starting the distribution from seven local governments that are not participating in the measles campaign this week, while we will move to the remaining local governments next week because we don’t want the distribution to affect the measles campaign.”
Gamawa said the agency has trained 600 community oriented resource persons that will be responsible to administer the drugs to the beneficiaries in the hard to reach areas, “we don’t have to wait until they bring a child to the hospital for treatment. We want to treat and manage them at community level”.
