The Wedding Party Sequel Set for Arabian-Themed Premiere

After last year’s roaring success of the grand premiere of Elfike Film Collective’s The Wedding Party – dubbed the “biggest wedding party in town” – the Lagos celebrity and high-society circles rooted for an encore. This explains the sequel The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai, which premieres on Sunday, December 10, at Eko Hotel & Suites in the upmarket Victoria Island, Lagos.

Already, the event, which promises to be yet another talk of the town, is sold out and it is unarguably Nollywood’s most-anticipated sequel.
The Elfike Film Collective, by the way, is a partnership between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios.

The wow element of the forthcoming premiere is its Arabian Nights-themed décor, which the organisers said was inspired by the movie’s glamorous locations in Dubai, a favourite holiday destination of many Nigerians. “With that comes opulent venue décor, guests dressed in gorgeous ‘Arabian chic’ outfits and a variety of activities and entertainment that evoke the spirit of the region,” a statement from the organisers corroborate.

Expect also some of Nigeria’s most celebrated and influential individuals in business, entertainment and politics to grace its red carpet. This will, of course, be followed by sumptuous three-course meal, accompanied by the finest wines, champagne and spirits. This fine-dining experience will be serenaded by the legendary King Sunny Ade, Kiss Daniel, Seyi Shay, Sugarboy, Kaliné, Reekado Banks and Timi Dakolo.

Guests will be ushered into the screening room for the evening’s main highlight: the screening of the hilarious romantic comedy, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai. A delighted EbonyLife Films CEO Mo Abudu, looks forward to celebrating with guests. “We’re flabbergasted by the interest this premiere has received,” she enthuses. “The support from corporate partners and individuals has been incredible – we sold out one month before the event. I think that our guests will be genuinely surprised by the unique ambience we are creating to ensure that the evening is as memorable as the film will be entertaining.”

The screening will be trailed by a lit after-party, which will take place in an ultra-cool suite that boasts an open bar and comfortable lounge areas. This after-party will be hosted by media partners MTV Base and will feature DJ Obi and DJ Cuppy.
Guests will depart the venue with exclusive gift bags from the event sponsors Dubai Tourism and other partners.

Meanwhile, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai’s cinema release comes five days later on Friday, December 15 in Nigeria and across Africa.
Last year, the romantic comedy/drama film, directed by Kemi Adetiba, had premiered on September 8 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) before its Saturday, November 26 grand premiere at Eko Hotel and Suites.
The grand premiere followed the lavish spectacular tradition of the movie FIFTY.
