Lubcon Boss Hails Guardian Manufacturing Excellence Awards

Managing Director of Lubcon International, Nigeria’s foremost pan-Africa lube oil manufacturing firm, Mr. Taiye Williams, has commended the organisers of the recently held Guardian Manufacturing Excellence Awards. Williams also appreciated the technical committee that selected the winners.

Williams, whose company, Lubcon International, emerged Nigeria’s Best Lubricant Manufacturing Company of the year 2017, also extolled the quality of news reportage from the stables of the Guardian Newspapers.

Lubcon beat bigger names in the lubricant manufacturing industry, including Forte Oil Nigeria Plc, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, Oando Plc, and Total Nigeria Plc, to emerge overall best.

The award was presented to Lubcon International by Dr. Martins Ogwuda of the Central Bank of Nigeria, who represented the CBN governor, Dr. Godwin Emefiele, at the event held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos

Williams was accompanied by other top management staff members of Lubcon to receive the award. They included the Group Managing Director, Chief Kalu Onwunta; Group Executive Director, Mr. Adesoji Fagbemi; Project Manager, Mr. Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim; and General Manager, Lubcon 3P, Engr. Audu Saliu Onimisi.

Receiving the award, Williams commended the management of Guardian Newspapers for appreciating manufacturers of goods and services in the Nigerian industrial sector, and for the quality of their news reporting. He dedicated the award to the board, management and staff of Lubcon International for weathering the recession storm in 2016, a situation that almost incapacitated many players in the Nigerian manufacturing sector.

Williams said the award “will go a long way to spur us to deliver more quality lubricants that will provide ultimate performance to all our customers. At Lubcon, we compete against the best lubricant brands in the world; and we apply the best global standards in all the markets where we operate.”

The 2017 Guardian Manufacturing Excellence Awards was the maiden edition organised by the Guardian Newspapers in collaboration with the African Development Studies Centre (Inc.).

It recognised deserving sector players in the Nigerian manufacturing industry, which outperformed despite challenging economic circumstances in the 2016, thus helping to spur growth and development, creating new economic opportunities for citizens and communities as well as inspiring the new generation of Nigerians in the manufacturing sector.
