Olaitan Wins Ikeja Golf Club Championship

Muyideen Olaitan shone like the stars once again on Sunday winning his Eighth Ikeja Golf Club Championship title after a two-day battle with over 100-others who took part in the competition.

Playing one-shot off the pace going to the final and lying behind Jimoh Ogundare on count back, Olaitan grossed a score 80, beating Chris Obije and Ogundare to the second and third position respectively, leaving first round leader, Gbenga Ayodele in the fourth position.

While Olaitan grossed a two-day score of 160, the duo of Ogundare and Obije tied on 161, while Ayodele was further back at 164-gross.

One of the highlights of the event was Gen. Olayinka Sule (rtd), a former Captain and Trustee of the Club who at 81, played well enough to make the cut and played in the final round. He won in the Super Veteran category.

Other winners in the week long competition include Ayo Akande, Bode Shittu, runner-up, while former Captain Kunle Ogunleye came third.

Zed Jituboh, Clement Onyeyiri, Austin Aigbotsua, Esimaje Yomi-Egbe, Rasaq Murtala, Seyi Siwoku, Clement Olowokande, Jolomi Ideh, Awa Ibraheem, Femi Faseru, Femi Ajala, Frank Igbene are some other golfers who were honoured the tournament.

Expressing his appreciation at the end of the competition, the Club Captain Niyi Latinwo thank the sponsors and participants for their support urged his members

“I am immensely grateful for the turnout of golfers for this event. I will like to also say a special thank you to our sponsors”, he said.

While thanking every member of the Club for making the event a success, the Club’s Competition Secretary Jolomi Ideh said he will continue to do all he can to make the tournament attractive to sponsors.
