Ikoyi Club Dominates as 26th Quadrangular Games End

After 34 games completed out of 50 events at the ongoing 26th Quadrangular Games holding at Ikoyi Club 1938, the host may have won the games going by the number of medals it has won so far.

As at on Thursday evening, Ikoyi Club was leading the medals table with 16 gold, 16 silver and eight bronze with a total of 136 points. Second on the table was Lagos Country Club with 14 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals with a total of 111 points. The Apapa Club was third with two gold and one silver with a total of 13 points. Lagos Lawn Tennis Club was third silver and two bronze with a total of 11 points to seat at the bottom of the table.

In the game of Ayo, Lagos Country Club captured gold leaving the silver to Ikoyi Club. Lagos Lawn Tennis Club and The Apapa Club did not show up.
In swimming, the host Ikoyi club captured seven Gold five Silver two Bronze to gather 52 points, while Lagos Country Club got five gold, four silver and four bronze with a total of 41 points.

In badminton, Ikoyi Club won gold and silver in Group A leaving the bronze for Lagos Country Club. In Group B, it was also Ikoyi Club capturing the gold and silver, while the bronze went to Lagos Country Club. In Draught, Lagos Country Club got the gold, Lagos Lawn Tennis Club silver and Ikoyi Club bronze.

The Quadrangular Games, a yearly event is rotated among four clubs, Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, The Apapa Club and Lagos Country Club Ikeja.
Each gold medal won at the event fetches five points, silver three points and bronze one point.

The 2017 edition of the Games games is featuring ten sporting events, snooker, billiards and pool, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, squash, swimming, soccer, chess, scrabble and ayo. The competition will end tomorrow with a colourful closing ceremony at 4pm.
