Niger Tornadoes Yet to Collect N10m AITEO Cup Runner up Prize, Says Chairman

Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna has revealed that it is yet to receive N10m from the sponsors of the 2017 FA Cup – AITEO

Also, the club hinted wednesday that the Niger State government, owners of the team, are yet to redeem the pledge of N10m largess despite approval alreday given for the release of the money by the state governor.

Niger Tornadoes FC finished as the runner up of the former Federation Cup renamed Aiteo Cup when the oil and gas giants took over its sponsorship.

The overall winner of the coveted trophy was expected to have gone home with N50m.
Chairman of the Tornadoes Management Committee (TMC) Alhaji Adamu Aliyu, made the clarification when he received the chairman and members of the supporters club of the team in Minna.

“Let me clear the air, we have not received the AITEO Cup money, it is something that cannot be hidden when collected, but we have received approval of the Governor Abubakar Sani Bello N10m pledge to the team”.
According to Aliyu “AITEO Cup prize money is not for the team but all the stakeholders involved towards the feat that the team achieved by getting to the finals where it ended up as runner-up.”
The TMC chairman told the supporters club members “to always ask questions on any issue instead of peddling falsehood.”

He added that there was no reason why people should be passing information on what they did not know about the Aiteo Cup money.
Aliyu commended the supporters’ club loyalty, stressing that it was responsible for the beautiful performance of the team last season.

Aliyu made a donation of N500,000 to the supporters on behalf of the team and a personal donation of N100,000 “because you (supporters ) weathered the storm together with the team and the management in the last two seasons.”
Earlier. the Chairman of the supporters club, Rashid Tanko Yussuf, total pledged their loyalty to the club and management committee.
