NBCC Elects Olawore President

The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) has announced the emergence of Mr. Akinola Olawore as its 15th president.

To this end, the council has concluded plan to hold its Presidential Dinner and Inauguration of Olawore in Lagos this Friday.

A statement yesterday described Olawore as a Chartered Surveyor and Valuer of repute with over 30 years’ experience in all aspects of Estate Surveying and valuation.

He had at various times in his career led several teams on valuation of Heavy Industries such as Oil and Gas Installations, Breweries, Pharmaceutical Industries and Heritage Properties.

Olawore is an adjunct Professor of Real Estate at the Homburg Academy, Charlotte Town, Canada and an affiliate Partner of International Realty Valuation Inc. San Diego, USA.

Speaking ahead of the Inauguration, outgoing President of the organisation Prince Adedapo Adelegan expressed confidence in the recently elected president, stating that his pedigree and accomplishments are attestations to the dynamism which he would bring in driving forward the objectives of the Chamber.

“The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce is one of the country’s largest and most broadly-based business organisation and revered for its high-quality policies and strategic advocacy having built a business friendly Chamber since inception in 1977.

“Tasked with promoting two-way trade and investment opportunities between Nigeria and Britain, the Chamber places emphasis on enhancing relationships towards building critical infrastructure that would support Nigeria’s economic growth, especially in the agriculture sector.

Highlighting the many achievements of the Chamber and its Governing Council, outgoing President, Prince Adedapo Adelegan continued that trade relations between Nigeria and the UK government remain at an all-time high, stating that during his tenure, trade and investments grew to about £7 billion, from £4 billion per annum back in 2010.

In expanding the focus of the Chamber in recent times, the NBCC is also honing in on women entrepreneurs by amplifying their viable contributions to economic growth. To this end, the Chamber will on Thursday 7th December, 2017 hold a Frempreneur exhibition and conference titled; bridging the Gap in Economic Development, at the Grand ballroom, Intercontinental hotel in Lagos.
