I was Never Indicted for Subsidy Fraud, Says Okafor

The Chairman of Chikason Group of Companies, Dr. Alex Chika Okafor, has said he was never indicted for subsidy fraud during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a letter addressed to THISDAY by his lawyers, Adroit Lex & Co, and signed by Chief Chibuzo Ziggy-Azike, the law firm described as false, a report that Okafor was named in 2011 by the Senate as one of the beneficiaries of the subsidy fraud for allegedly pocketing N18 billion.

The letter noted that Okafor is an honest man, God-fearing and devout Christian who has received national honours from the President of Nigeria on two occasions.

According to the letter, Okafor and his company have also received hundreds of awards for integrity and distinction, adding that Chikason Group is known for corporate integrity.

The solicitors to Chikason Group faulted the said publication, saying it caused his client embarrassment.
