The concept of a hotel within a hotel is very evident at the club rooms and lounge of the Sheraton Lagos. It starts from check-in. Rather than queuing-up at the general reception at the hotel lobby – a distinct possibility at the busy hotel, especially in the evenings when flight crew from various international airlines arrive – a fast track check-in on the sixth floor is one of the perks club guests get.
The personalized service starts from knowing guests’ preferences. “Complimentary wine, red or white? Or would you prefer a fruit bowl?†says the receptionist.
Not far from the check-in desk is the Club Lounge that is accessible only by your room key. This is for guests on the club floors; five and six. Being a club guest comes with enhanced privileges.
Complimentary tea and coffee is served all-day at the lounge, while snacks and drinks (fresh fruit, beer, spirits and cocktails) are served between five and seven in the evenings. The ambience is homely, yet executive, almost like a first-class airport lounge, especially when you see a pilot in uniform, relaxing after a long-haul flight.
Tastefully furnished without straying too far from the generally earthy tones of the hotel’s décor, the lounge is exclusive and a perfect place for hotel guests to entertain visitors, or socialize with high net worth individuals.
The club rooms and suites at the Sheraton are newly renovated, all 107 of them refreshed and elegantly furnished with modern interiors and enhanced amenities.
It is part of the brand’s new elevated and customized approach to design as part of Sheraton 2020, a 10-point plan designed to put Sheraton back in the global spotlight and solidify its positioning as a leading global hotel brand of choice.
The rooms come equipped with Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience, with particular attention given to the lighting to ensure efficient task lighting where required and just the right level of ambient light for relaxation.
The use of a mosaic pattern on the wall tiling adds intricate detail to the rooms, while still maintaining its earthy tones; shades of brown are prominent, against a pristine white backdrop.
Furniture is a mix of wood and glass and the bathrooms, which are thoughtfully designed with premium bath amenities, is see-through by choice. A retractable wooden board means it’s convertible and leaves the choice to the guest, a feature that shouldn’t be taken for granted. (A particular competitor in Lagos will do well to take note and upgrade.)
The club rooms and lounge are beneficiaries of a hotel-wide renovation that has also seen the La Giara Italian restaurant and Pumkin Leaf restaurant refurbished.
Sheraton Lagos, which opened in 1985, takes advantage of its proximity to the international airport and has since been a hotspot for locals and expatriates. Its Wazobia nights on Fridays attracts a cross-section of fun lovers hooked on the medley of contemporary and old-school hits belted out by the live band.
A lively and eclectic Sunday brunch, and theme nights on weekdays also help to create the ideal setting for friends, family and colleagues to converge and connect.
Recreational facilities include a gym, outdoor pool, tennis courts, and a mini golf range ensuring guests can make the most out of every stay.
