The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, has joined the many voices paying tributes to former Vice President, Chief Alex Ekwueme, who died on November 19.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Taraba State on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, Ishaku said: “Ekwueme played a critical role in the political engineering process that gave birth to the present democratic dispensation in Nigeria. His very matured approach to politics, forthrightness and patriotism also helped in no small way to nurture and sustain that process. His contributions will certainly be accorded a generous place in the political history books of the country.”

The statement went on to note that Ishaku extends “his sincere condolences to the members of the family of this political stalwart and architect, a profession that he is also a proud member of, the Governors and the entire people of the South-east States of Nigeria on this sad occurrence. May God Almighty grant them the fortitude to bear the loss of this illustrious gift to the Nigerian federation.”
