PLAY TV to Launch Soon, Hosts BBC for Partnership

Ahead of its launch, PLAY TV has hosted crew from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in Lagos to discuss partnership on content creation.

PLAY, formerly known as CONSAT, is an African urbane media and entertainment company which aims to be a leader in digital TV programming through the offering of carefully selected combination of the best channels with the most flexible and convenient payment plan ever offered in Nigeria.

The platform aims to become the leading urbane brand for the young-at-heart in Africa, France, Caribbean and Indian Ocean while also planning to expand its brand in USA, UK and Brazil with its media and digital assets.

The General Manager, PLAY TV, Funmi Adenaike, disclosed that the medium presently boasts of more than 50 channels with varieties of entertainment, movies, sports, lifestyle and family entertainment channels.

“Recently, we launched Irawo on PLAY TV which was well received by our viewers. Irawo means Silver, a precious metal in Yoruba. Irawo is a 24 hour contemporary Yoruba Channel. The Channel is exclusive to PLAY TV and it showcases movies, sitcoms, lifestyle, entertainment and drama in indigenous Yoruba language. All contents on Irawo are designed for both young and old audience who love indigenous Nigerian entertainment,” Adenaike said.

According to Adenaike, other Channels exclusive to PLAY TV include HFA TV, Mount Zion TV (MZTV), Talent Sport, 1Comedy, and others, and Play Studios is positioned to become one of the major operating studios in Lagos. She noted that with over five different studios, Play has an enviable experience of providing the finest production services from development through to post production pointing that Play studio is an international leader in the production of film and TV entertainment.

“We are willing to engineer partnerships with projects – large and small, in a ceaseless effort to create celebrated movies, television shows, and commercials.

Play VOD (video on demand) is the first-to-market premium local and international on-demand movies without additional bandwidth charge across FreeTV and FreeSAT platform in Nigeria and likely the only such service on Free TV for the foreseeable future.
