The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Wednsday filed charges against Maryam Sanda, wife of Biyamin Bello, for the murder of the son of the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr Haliru Bello.
Maryam was alleged to have murdered her husband after stabbing him several times while asleep.

FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, Anjuri Manzah, explained that the suit against Maryam was filed at FCT High Court No: 32 and charged of culpable homicide under section 224 of the Penal Code.

Manzah said: “It should also be noted that this present charge is as a result of preliminary findings; at the end of investigation, additional findings will determine whether the current charge will be amended or whether other persons will be charged along with the suspect.”

He explained that “to assist the Police with their ongoing investigation, some persons have been invited for questioning on the matter.

“The security guards were released after telling the police what they knew about the incident.
“They subsequently agreed to serve as prosecution witnesses, meaning they would appear in court to give evidence on the matter,” he stated.
