200 Golfers Jostle for 2017 CBN Governor's Cup

The 11th CBN Governor’s Golf Tournament will tee off on Saturday, November 25, at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja with a field of 200 golfers.

The tournament has become embedded in the calendar of IBB, since the maiden edition in 2006, when Oludare Bello was the captain.
IBB Club current captain, Sunday Ameh (SAN) yesterday lauded CBN for always keeping to its promise of hosting the year ending tournament.

The field will tee off in two groups in the morning and afternoon via the shotgun format.
The best nett over 18 holes stroke play shall be deemed the overall winner of the tournament irrespective of the category of play.

The tournament is limited to IBB Club members and CBN guests within Handicap 0-24 for men and Ladies, Handicap 21-30. There will also be veterans, who will play with their full handicap, CBN staff category and retired staff.
The gentlemen are also categorised into three divisions; 0-12 (Division 1) 13-18 (Division 2) and 19-24 (Division 3).
Aside from from trophies to be won in various categories, there will be auxiliary prizes for nearest to the pin for men, women and CBN staff and longest drive for men, women and CBN staff.

CBN Ag. Director Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, said the yearly tournament will engender a spirit of friendship among competing golfers, while encouraging partnership and networking.
“The beautiful game of golf is a comprehensive exercise that promotes the physiological, mental and emotional well-being of players. It significantly helps reduce stress,” Okorafor said.
