Mugabe Resigns after 37 Years in Power

The President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, has resigned after 37 years in power, the speaker of the country’s parliament said on Tuesday.
Wild jubilation broke out when the Speaker, Jacob Mudenda told the House and suspended the process that had begun to impeach the president.
The resignation letter read: “I Robert Gabriel Mugabe in terms of section 96 of the constitution of Zimbabwe hereby formally tender my resignation… with immediate effect.”
