300 Women Benefit from SOGON's Medical Outreach in Sokoto

The Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) Tuesday said that no fewer than 300 women suffering from various ailments will receive free treatment at the end of its medical outreach in Sokoto State.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto and the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr. Yakub Ahmed, stated this while briefing journalists ahead of the 51st annual general meeting (AGM) and scientific conference of the society in Sokoto.
He stated that no fewer than 200 women suffering from various ailments had been treated free since the medical outreach commenced two days ago.
Ahmed explained that the society had conducted 10 major surgeries and 25 Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) repairs while more would be carried out as part of the activities to mark the society’s 51st annual general conference holding in the state.
He said 100 women had so far been screened for cervical cancer, adding that their target were women with VVF, cancer of the ovary, fibroid and regular bleeding, among others.
