Class Act: Sujimoto Boss Raises N1bn for Banana Island Project

When the poster boy of Nigeria’s real estate industry, Sijibomi Ogundele, otherwise known as Sujimoto, disclosed to a few friends and associates that he would put up a luxury property in Banana Island, Lagos, they didn’t doubt him. They know better than that. Over the past couple of years, the boss of Sujimoto Construction has proved cynics wrong by envisioning and executing to applause and awe some of the most talked about luxury properties in Lagos at the moment. Though his idealistic Lorenzo By Sujimoto, reputed to be Africa’s tallest residential building, has become a still-birth or so HighLife has learnt, the relentless and suave gentleman has not abdicated his resolve to redefine the real estate landscape in Nigeria.

It is in furtherance of this that independent sources have confirmed to us that Sujimoto has raised over N1billion from local investors for a closely-guarded project in Banana Island. “The fact that such a secretive project could raise such a substantial investment completely from local investors has lent credence and confidence to the viability of the idea and the Nigerian real estate industry,” one of the dependable sources said.

Speculated to be a development of luxury terrace houses in the heart of Africa’s most expensive neighbourhood, no amount of prodding would make Sujimoto disclose his plans. Rather, to underscore his joy at the success of the funds raised, he recently took to social media to post a cryptic message; ‘The Storm Is Over.’ He went further to cause a viral frenzy when he promised to crown one lucky woman with a mind blowing proposal accompanied by generous gifts of a Rolls Royce Car and a house in Banana Island. For a young businessman who has been harried for his vision, Highlife has gathered that this new venture would go a long way in reinstating public confidence in him.

•AS TELECOMS COMPANY LIVES UP TO ITS MANTRA OF RULING SUBSCRIBERS’ WORLD
Since telecoms company, Globacom, launched its Glo Everyday Bonanza promo, it has been delighting subscribers from Langtang to Lagos, Aba to Adamawa and everywhere in between. Already, the promo has changed forever the life of Shishi Tanini, an indigene of Takum LGA, Taraba State. Tanini won a brand new Hyundai Accent. The ecstatic Tanini was beaming and bouncing with pride at the headquarters of Globacom in Victoria Island, Lagos. Other subscribers who won flat screen LED TV sets, generators, refrigerators and microwave ovens also received their prizes same day.

A total of 60 power generating sets, 60 refrigerators, 120 microwave ovens and 30 LED television sets were received by excited subscribers at the presentation. Presentation ceremonies will also be held in 20 cities like Abuja, Ikeja, Lokoja, Asaba, Warri, Onitsha, Owerri, Calabar, among others across Nigeria. Existing subscribers are required to buy airtime of N100 or more in a day to qualify. Ashok Israni, Globacom’s regional chief marketing officer, said, “To crown the week-long largesse to its subscribers, Globacom will be giving out a brand new Hyundai Accent to a lucky subscriber every Sunday, making a total of 14 car winners.” He said, “All a subscriber needs to do to qualify for these life-impacting prizes is to recharge his or her phone with at least N100 worth of credit.

Each N100 credit purchased entitles a subscriber to an entry. So the more recharge a subscriber makes, the more entries he gets and consequently the greater the chance to win quality gifts every day.”Predictably, the news of this novel idea has brought many Nigerians out of their shells, with many taking to their preferred social media pages to praise Globacom’s unprecedented and unimaginable magnanimity. From Twitter to Facebook and Instagram, it has been thumbs up galore. A responder to the news in a national newspaper waxed poetic; “There is certainly no excess in surplus as nocturnal and diurnal subscribers to the Globacom network, excite over gifts of data and other interminable perks showered on them by the telecoms provider. There is no gainsaying Globacom has a capacity for consumer satisfaction so vast that it gives away great chunks to its subscribers in appreciation of their loyalty and patronage.
