Obiano Leads in 12 Councils

Christopher Isiguzo, Onyebuchi Ezeigbo and David Eleke in Awka

Results so far released in the Anambra governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) showed a clear lead by the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) Willie Obiano.

Results have been released from 12 local government areas so far.

Obiano is closely followed by Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Oseloka Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

APGA Wins Njikoka LGA, INEC Declares

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won the governorship election in Njikoka Local Government, which is the first result to be released.

The local government, which has 88,793 registered voters and 28,346 accredited voters, saw APGA polling 16,944 out of the total votes cast, leaving APC with 5,756, while PDP followed with 3,477, and PPA and UPP polled 60 and 108 respectively.

The state Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, is from the local government area.

Similarly, APGA and APC were neck and neck in Dunukofia Local Government, being the area of APC acclaimed godfather, Prince Arthur Eze.

APGA however won with a short margin, which was declared as follows; APGA – 8,575 and APC – 7016. PDP trailed far behind with 1,530, while PPA and UPP polled 12 and 106 respectively.
