The Anambra governorship election has taken off in polling units across the state.
A number of polling units visited by the THISDAY monitoring teams showed that voting and accreditation started as early as 8 am though with low turn out of voters.
For instance, in most of th polling units visited in Awka, the state capital as at 9 am, there was relatively low turn out of voters. In Awka Ward 8, three polling units in the area began accreditation and voting simultaneously at about 9.10am.
In Aguleri, some young men moving in groups were seen entering the town. THISDAY gathered that the men were going to the polling units to cast their votes.
However at the Otuocha in Aguleri, where the incumbent governor Willie Obiano is expected to vote, the story is different as many voters thronged the polling unit at Eri Primary School as early as 7 am waiting anxiously to cast their votes.
Some voters interviewed by THISDAY said that officials of INEC arrived the place on time at 8am to commence the business of the day.
