The Senate Committee charged with investigating the circumstances of the return and re-instatement of fugitive ex-Chairman of the Presidential Pension Reforms Task Force Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, has again met with the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami.
The meeting, the second this week, again was held behind closed doors.
The committee had also met with officials of the Federal Civil Service Commission and the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau, who were all fingered in the scandal.
The meeting with Malami yesterday was held in the office of the committee Chairman, Senator Emmanuel Paulker.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Paulker gave the assurance that the committee would not sweep anything under the carpet.
He added that the committee was proposing to submit its report by December.
Paulker said the meetings were being held behind closed doors due to the need to do a thorough job.
“It is at my discretion to hold the meeting in my office. All the four chairmen of the committee were present. We don’t want a situation whereby the media report will dictate sections of our report. The closed-door session will allow us to do thorough investigation on the matter.
“Nothing will be swept under the carpet, the truth of matter will come at the end of our investigation and the report will be submitted before Christmas,†Paulkner added.
Malami is reported to have written the letter clearing Maina, and demanding his re-instatement into the service. Maina, despite allegations of laundering up to N2billion, was reinstated as a director in the Ministry of Interior.
He was however fired by the presidency when the news leaked to the public.
