Daniel:  PDP is Paying the Price of Deviating from Grassroots

Former Governor of Ogun State and a front line People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairmanship hopeful,  Gbenga Daniel, has advocated for an in-depth reorganisation of the party for it to be able to take over power from the ruling all Progressive Congress (APC).

According to him, the best thing that has ever happened to the politics of the country was the grassroots politics initiated and well executed by the PDP which enabled it to carry the country along with success.
He, however regretted that since the party dumped its grassroots style of politics and embraced impunity, the fortunes of the party had continued to dwindle and subsequently denied it victory in 2015 general elections.

Daniel stated this Wednesday evening, when he and his campaign team stormed Gombe to gather support for his chairmanship bid of the party in the forthcoming national congress of the party scheduled for 9 and 10 December 2017.

He said “what gave our party great success in winning elections in the past was its bottom to top approach, but when we deviated from that and started top to bottom, that is, not arriving at decisions from the grassroots to the top, we lost out and the result is what we are experiencing today”.

“That is why I am offering myself to spear head this reorganisation of the party to success and then change the change. We need a powerful driving force for that and I feel I have all it takes following my track record”, he appealed.

The Gombe State Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Joel Jagafa, while welcoming the campaign team assured them that everything about Gombe State had been PDP and would never look back. He also assured that the State PDP will always support any candidate that will take the party to greater heights.
