NDLEA Arrests Policeman for Escorting 30 Bags of Marijuana

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kogi State, has arrested a mobile police officer while escorting a vehicle loaded with 30 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp out of Lokoja.

The Kogi State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr. Idris Bello, disclosed this to journalists tuesday.

He said the weeds were being escorted by the policeman in a red Toyota Picnic car with registration number Kogi KNA 185 LG when it was intercepted by his men.

He added that the vehicle suspected to be owned by the Dekina Local Government in the state was intercepted at about 2:30 pm at a road intersection in the state capital.

Bello said that the driver escaped arrest but said that his officials were able to apprehend the mobile policeman who was escorting the goods.

The Commander who refused to reveal the identity of the policeman said that the NDLEA was in the process of notifying the police headquarters in Lokoja of the development.

He said that the agency had taken the policeman, the vehicle and the bags of weeds into custody.
