Kusamotu: We must Rescue our Society from Political Vampires now

Legal expert and Chairman of Kusamotu & Kusamotu law firm, Mr. Ayodele Kusamotu has said that the political space is filled with intrigues, deceit and dominated by people whose main objective is to milk the resources of the state.

Consequently, he called on the educated class to rise up to participate in electoral processes in order to deliver the society from political vampires, “who pretend to be our leaders but who are actually toying with our national destiny.”

The charge was given recently in Lagos on the occasion of the Investiture Ceremony of the 34th President and Induction of the Board of Directors of Rotary Club of Tincan Island District 9110 Nigeria.

He called on the ruling class to go back to the fundamentals of leadership, stressing that there is need to devise means of saving the country’s ailing economy from the shackles of poverty and bad leadership it has found itself over the years.

Kusamotu remarked that there is an urgent need for leaders in authority to correct the mistakes of the past and place it on the right footing politically: “The time has come for us to know where we stand politically. In the past, everyone knew where they stood politically.”

He maintained that in a multipolar landscape, in which the parties are indecisive when the issues they are negotiating are becoming increasingly complex, the old divisions begin to lose their definitions.

He added that Rotary International even though not a political organisation is a breeding ground for future political leaders and influencers, adding that aspiring public office holders can learn some leadership principles from the Rotary Four-Way Test.

Earlier, the President, Rotarian Chiemeka Charles Ezenwanne listed some of his projects like the provision of 50 wheelchairs, provision of 100 blind stick, grants to widows and renovation of Alakoto Nursery and Primary School among others.

Ezenwanne urged the attendees to support graciously the projects noting that if a free society cannot help the many who are poor, then it cannot save the few who are rich.

Others at the event are the Eze Nya na Umunya, Igwe Kris Onyekwuluje, the Director General of Rotary in Ogun and Lagos State, Wale Ogunbadejo, Mr. Chidozie Nwankwo, the immediate past president, Samson Enema, Mr. Emmanuel Dangana and Mrs. Adeyemi Akingbade of Kusamotu & Kusamotu among others.
