IBB Varsity Gets N30m TETFund Research Grant

Niger State-owned Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has received a N30 million research grant from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). The research is to be embarked on in specific areas in the fields of sciences, technology, education and humanities.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Maiturari, who disclosed this in a chat with the leadership of the correspondent chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Niger State chapter in his office, said the money would be spent on critical research works “to enhance the development of the country.”

Maiturari added that the grant was “the institutional based research component of TETFund”, which would also be utilised to explore the potential benefits for the socio-economic development of Niger State in particular and the country in general.

He said the university was being positioned to play an active role in the educational development of the state and the country. “Our mission is to be one of the best state government owned university in Nigeria, our products will also be among the best in country.”

The vice-chancellor thanked the correspondent chapel leadership for the visit and assured them of the management’s readiness to sustain the collaboration with the media.

He enjoined journalists to be objective in their reportage, saying that the university has identified the media as “a critical stakeholder” and urged them to cooperate with the management.

The Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel, Mr Aideloje Ojo had commended the university for contributing to the development of humanity.

Ojo promised that the correspondent chapel of NUJ in the state was ready to support the university by promoting its positive developmental drive.
