Varsity Don Urges Right English Usage

A university don, Nkem Okoh, has emphasised the need for Nigerians to pay more attention to linguistic hygiene just like they do to  personal hygiene to be able to minimise the rate of unemployment in the country. Okoh, a Professor of English language at the University of Port Harcourt, was reacting to a   recent World Bank report which highlighted the deficiency of Nigerian graduates in poor mastery of the English Language and lack of requisite technical skills. The report further stated that their weaknesses observed in oral and written communication as well as applied skills had made them unfit for the labour market and sometimes, the larger society.
