FGCC Owerri Old Students Target N200m School Upliftment

Towards giving back to their Alma Mata, the old students association of Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Owerri, is targeting a sum of two hundred million naira to uplift the school.

The Old Student Association is presently hosting their Global Reunion 2017 titled ‘Womentrepreneurship’ which began yesterday and ends on November 5, at Dover Hotel, Lekki.

According to the Public Relations Officer of FGGC Lagos chapter, Mrs. Ngozi Oyewole, “the school is in need of an upliftment in order to effectively provide a modern day learning environment which can compete on a worldwide scale. Therefore, the most important objective of the reunion goes beyond networking; the intention is to give back to the school that nurtured us. In view of this, our target is to use this opportunity to raise the sum of two hundred million naira for the overall development of the school in order to provide a solid foundation for the current and future students.”

“We are glad that after 44 years of the establishment of FGGC Owerri, we are able to reunite and appraise the progress of the school and see where we can join hands to upgrade the standard of learning in the school which produced all of us,” Oyewole said.

FGGC Owerri is one of the 104 Federal Government Colleges regarded as “Prounitate Schools”. The school established in 1973 is a high-profile model secondary school for girls and has produced great women in different fields of endeavour.
